A Fort McMurray business leader has been chosen to be on the ministerial advisory committee for the Alberta Indigenous Opportunities Corporation.
Nicole Bourque-Bouchier, CEO of the Bouchier Group, is among four individuals who were named to the committee by Minister of Indigenous Relations Rick Wilson on Tuesday.
Wilson says they chose members who are renowned and respected in their fields and business communities.
“Their ties to Indigenous and business communities, their advice, expertise and strategic direction will give us the practical expertise we need to create this first-of-its-kind Crown corporation,” Wilson said.
Bouchier will be providing input to government on the design of the corporation – so Indigenous communities can more easily participate in major resource projects.
The committee’s work will continue until a permanent board is in place in the new year.
The province says it’s now accepting applications for permanent AIOC board members.
