Municipality Preparing For Fire Prevention Week, Community Kickoff Planned

You’re getting an opportunity to learn more about preventing fires around your home.

Regional Emergency Services is hosting a community kickoff for Fire Prevention Week where residents can interact with local firefighters and get safety tips.

A interactive fire safety trailer is being set up, while various firefighting equipment and trucks will also be on display.

A free barbeque is also being offered with multiple family friendly activities.

The kickoff takes place on October 5 with Fire Prevention Week taking place from October 6-12.

Meanwhile, RES is reminding residents to have a plan in place in the case a fire does start in their home.

This includes practicing a home fire drill twice a year, teaching kids how to escape on their own, making sure your address is clearly marked making it easy for the fire department to find you, and more.
