Two Hospitalized After Unknown Substance Found at Post Office, Area Closed Off From Public

A section of downtown is being closed off after a substance was found at a Canada Post office.

Regional Emergency Services were called to the building on Riedel Street on Thursday after two individuals came into contact with six envelopes that allegedly had an unknown material.

The two people were transported to the Northern Lights Regional Health Centre for further care and assessments.

The area around the post office is being closed off as a safety precaution.

Crews also checked the Canada Post on Hardin Street but determined there were no issues for concerns to the public or employees. This area is once again open to the public.

Meanwhile, Keyano College was also shut down for a short time on Thursday, however, it’s unknown if it’s related.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Wood Buffalo RCMP.
