A Fort McMurray fitness buff continues her quest to be the next cover girl for Muscle & Fitness Hers magazine.
After beating out thousands of competitors through July, Brittany Fuhr is now in the semi-finals of the Ms. Health and Fitness competition.
She tells Mix News she’s been blown away by all the hometown support she’s received.
“That’s just what we do here, and I think that’s where a small-town mentality comes in handy. We are always looking out for each other and Fort McMurray has definitely done that for me and I’m just super excited.”
Currently, Fuhr ranks 2nd in her semi-final round out of four competitors.
She needs to be in 1st place by the deadline in order to advance to the final round.
Fuhr says now that she’s almost at the finish line, she’s doing all she can to stay in shape.
“Trying to stay a little bit lean while adding muscle. Just keeping up with cardio instead of cutting it out fully. I still train as hard as I can five days a week, I rest as much as I can because that’s important to and I’m eating well.”
The winner of the competition will also take home a grand prize of $20,000.
She says winning this competition would mean the world to her.
“This is my life but then in the bigger picture, it would provide so much for both my kids and everything. Everything would change and it would be for the best and it would change because I would be able to help people – which is getting me all emotional.”
