Fort McMurray is seeing a staggering increase in stolen vehicles.
Wood Buffalo RCMP say in July alone, there were 49 stolen cars and another 38 reported thefts from vehicles.
“Crimes of this nature are increasing exponentially in our region and we truly need the help of residents in changing that,” said Inspector Shane Ramteemal, in a release
He adds in the majority of these thefts, keys were left in the car or ignition and valuables were in plain sight.
The Mounties are urging all motorists to safeguard their vehicle.
